Rabat, Malta

The charming town of Rabat is worth a half day visit for the Church and Grotto of St. Paul and a tour of the St. Paul Catacombs on Agatha Street. Sole Traveling Mama’s family had this quiet town almost to themselves on their visit and the children loved the catacombs. The catacombs had a scary enough feel to excite the children and they had a great time exploring the many rooms and staircases. It was great to have an “unguided” tour and explore leisurely. The lighting isn’t the best, so wear sturdy shoes and be sure to confirm open hours as they do change. It feels authentic, not like a cleaned up tourist trap.
