St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, Malta

St. John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta, Malta“Home” of the Order of the Knights Hospitallers of St. John, this beautiful Baroque jewel was designed by a Maltese architect and constructed in 1572. The Knights were noblemen, who came from the most prestigious and wealthy families in Europe and the Cathedral displays the absolute best that money could buy at the time in the way of artworks and gildings. The knights of Malta wanted to rival the churches of Rome and their extravagance shows! Sole Traveling Mama personally loved the portraits of all the Grand Masters and the multitude of family crests in the Cathedral. Save time to just sit in the pews, look up and around and absorb it all!
